Shell chooses Nexia for assignment in West Africa
In early October 2004 Meston Reid & Co, Nexia's firm in Aberdeen,
was invited by Shell, Holland, to tender for a business strategy
review of one of Shell's sub-contractors in Gabon, West Africa.
The reason Shell had approached Meston Reid & Co was because
the person responsible for hiring an external adviser was born in
Aberdeen and had contacts in the large Shell complex in Aberdeen.
Local enquiries had indicated that Meston Reid & Co was known
locally for the provision of business strategy services.
At the first meeting with Shell it transpired that the business
strategy review would be extended to include internal accounting
and verification procedures, together with an overall solvency assessment.
After a tender process, Meston Reid & Co was contracted by Shell
and an employee travelled to Gabon for a two week assignment.
Shell has since written to Meston Reid & Co in order to express
its delight and satisfaction at the prompt quality service and has
suggested that a further visit to Gabon is likely in January 2005.
Meston Reid & Co hopes to forge closer links with Shell now
that the first assignment has been completed in the hope that other
such assignments might be secured.
